Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge

beach.jpgBack Bay National Wildlife Refuge offers you the unique opportunity to immerse yourself in over nine thousand acres of protected land located on and around a thin strip of coastline. Some of the geographical features include marshlands, beaches, and woodlands. You can almost guarantee that you will see a variety of migratory birds.

boardwalk.jpgAt Back Bay NWF you can relax, bike ride, or walk on a beach that is less likely to be packed with people. You can also fish and swim in certain places on the refuge.  Educational Programs are also available for the public on a regular schedule in various areas around the refuge according to the site; they have an event calendar on the site listing the program dates. There is a Canoe and Kayak launch area here also, they have onsite facilities to allow for you to bring out your own gear with parking available on a first come first serve availability.

During the spring, summer, and fall you can catch the Tram Tour which departs at 9:00 AM. The tour allows guest to see the wild life with tour guides available to explain each.
