Oceanbreeze Water Park
Want to see an extra large gorilla and ride some waterslides? Then you don’t want to miss Oceanbreeze Water Park. It is conveniently located to the Oceanfront, just past the Virginia Marine Science Museum. This water park is a hit for the locals and not so far of a drive as to Williamsburg. Once there you will find that it is not very crowded with loads to do. If you have small ones, you can spend your day in Buccaneer Bay. This area is specifically designed for children 48″ and under. The ship they can climb through and move over and under different water spouts. But it doesn’t end there because there is South Sea Silly Slides, where the younger kids can enjoy the slides by themselves or with their parents.
The bigger attractions consist of Largo Loop which is a twisting tubular slide that you can go by yourself or with a partner. Then there is Coconut Drops and Bamboo Shoots. These are designed for the better swimmer. While there are lifeguards at every station, you go feet first through an enclosed tube that shoots you into a pool 8 ft deep. Jungle Falls is a load of fun. It is another tubular slide and rocks you back and forth on the sides as you speed through the white water rapids. I cannot forget to tell you about the new slides. The Pirate Plummet and Walk the Plank are not for the light hearted. Walk the Plank starts in a dark tunnel and drops you through a 50 ft slide, while Pirate Plummet is also a steep drop just as the tunnel opens. And the large wave pool is always a hit. They play beach music when the waves start and you can rock and roll just as you would at the beach.
There are plenty of places to eat with hotdogs, hamburgers, pizza and a new Cold Stone Creamery in the park. You cannot bring in food and drinks, but you can go back to your car if you want to picnic it for the day as well. There is always a $2.00 off coupon on the website, so be sure to check it out at http://www.oceanbreezewaterpark.com.
