Horse walking in Virginia Beach

What better way to see the gorgeous Virginia Beach sky than by horseback? Horseback riding is a favorite pastime in the nation and particularly in Virginia. By nature, it is an active sport and involves some physical challenges, which put pressure on your legs, heels, back, arms and neck. Every action the horse takes is because of a cue provided by the rider.

Horses weigh over 1,000 pounds and can be unpredictable. However, despite the physical demands involved, when you actually ride a horse it’s a unique and amazing feeling. Some have likened it to a feeling of flying. Some people actually consider it quite mentally relaxing and a great workout. Some people enjoy horseback riding in Virginia because it lets them ride a trail through the woods where animals can be seen up close. (They’re not as afraid of a horse as a human-operated vehicle)

Where can you find Virginia Beach horseback riding? If you’re looking for beach horseback riding then the best way to find events is by season. For instance, on certain weekends in the spring season, there are horseback riding events. Horses sometimes wear “diapers” to keep the beach clean. However, this type of event is not always available near the beach. A special permit is required for horseback riding, because otherwise, horseback riding is not allowed on a public beach because of safety issues.

On the other hand, if you head towards streets like Knotts Island, or Princess Anne, you may be able to find Virginia Beach horseback riding centers. A Fair Winds Farm and West Neck Creek Equestrian Center can help you get started. The Easy Does It Riding Academy can be found on Muddy Creek Road. There are also privately owned horseback riding trainers and boarding schools who can arrange time for new students; some of the top names include the Willowgait Farm, AMH Farm and Arbor Gate Farm.

If you want to head out a little farther into Virginia horseback riding territory, check out Riverview Stables, where you can ride mountain trails, forest trails, river trails and open country along the Seven Bends of the North Fork Shenandoah River, near George Washington National Forest.

If you are coming to Virginia Beach, then horseback riding is a must. This is a once in a lifetime experience if you have never had the pleasure of riding this great animal through a beautiful Virginia Beach landscape!Where to Find Virginia Beach Horseback Riding Activities
