When I was a kid, one of my favorite summer tunes was Nat King Coles, "Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer". I would listen to that song on repeat and dance around in my living room. Summer was always about picnics, beach time, good music, and good fun.
Living in Virginia Beach, one would think the locals would be at the beach all the time! It would be like being on vacation EVERY DAY! Unfortunately, it's not like that; packing up "those sodas and pretzels and beer" isn't as easy as it seemed when I was a kid. I have things to do now, responisibilites, bills to pay, laudry to do, apartment to clean. Who has time for the beach any more. Summer time is for kids. Kinda a depressing thought, huh?
This morning I decided that once my work is done for the day, I'm going to enjoy where I live. I'm going to the beach and making my laundry wait. Latin Fest is going on and I have every intention of enjoying listening to that Merengue beat! I think its important that we take time to enjoy the summer time.
I've started to realize that it's important to actually enjoy life. I don't think I'll regret heading to the beach instead of doing yet another load of laundry. So whether your coming to the beach for a weekend getaway or a local taking in some rays along the oceanfront, enjoy it, turn off your phone and remember what those lazy hazy crazy days of summer were all about.
xoxo,
Beauty at the Beach
