Battle brewing over wildlife center

Two Virginia Beach groups want to offer refuge to wild animals who need rehabilitation, but there's a battle over who will manage the future wildlife center.

Wildlife Response, a local volunteer group, says its current facility is at capacity and many members are caring for animals in their own homes.

So, they got the idea to build a new refuge on 50 acres at the intersection of North Landing and Indian River Roads.

"We were looking for a wooded area that would make the wildlife feel more at home," said Billy Haynie with Wildlife Response Vice President.
