Gospelfest

Urban contemporary gospel music will take center stage at the first annual Gospelfest in Virginia Beach, VA. In its premier weekend, April 25-26, 2009, Gospelfest will be a celebration of music and praise. Held down at the oceanfront, the sounds of heavenly tunes will float through the air at the 17th Street Park and Stage. This event will feature an electrifying two days filled with the inspiring sounds of Southern gospel, gospel hip hop, and praise music.

Local gospel dance groups, quartets, powerful vocalists, and gospel music choirs will celebrate a genre of music that deserves to be seen and heard. Performances will feature artists and groups such as gospel legend Julia Canadia, Michael Smith, New Harvest, Godz Boys, Mount Lebanon Baptist Church Mass Choir, and Fireproof.

Performances start each day at 1:00 pm and last into the night, ending each night by 10:00 pm. With different performers taking the stage every 40 minutes, there is something for everyone to enjoy while sampling different styles of gospel praise.
