Norman? Norman, is that you?
A 49-year-old man was arrested Saturday on suspicion he kept his dead mother in her bed for several months while collecting her Social Security checks, according to Local 6 News.
The decomposing body of Vernice Bea was found inside a bedroom at 411 W Voorhis Ave. in Deland, Fla., on March 24.
A Local 6 News report said that it appeared the body had been in the house for some time because of the advanced state of decomposition.
During the investigation into Bea's death, investigators learned that Robert Eugene Bea, the woman's son, had been aware of the body's presence inside the home, a news release said. Local 6 News reported Saturday that the pair both lived in the house.
Detectives also learned that Bea had been cashing his mother's Social Security checks since October 2005.
Bea was found in a Deltona home Saturday afternoon and was taken into custody without incident.
