I LOVE virginia beach for many reasons. First, the beach. There is NOTHING absolutely like the beach here. Second, the atmosphere! Thirdly, the food, museums and the excitement it brings! BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY is this story.
This summer will be our (my wife and I) third trip here. The first time was three years ago. We stayed for four days at the RAMADA LIMITED. It was a beautiful experience as we sat by our balcony, watching the crashing waves of the beach and staring at the occasional overhead airplanes under the full moon, while sipping champagne. This was where Maxine and I fell in love all over again! It was our second year wedding anniversary. Over the last couple of years in our marriage, we had been quite busy, taking each other for granted, busily working and living separate lives. It was an unbelievable three day weekend, where for the FIRST TIME we had breakfast at Mahi Maui (forgive the misspelling) on the beach, partied at the local caribbean club and also relaxed in each other's arms watching the free concert on the grass!
The second time was this past summer. It was even MORE SPECIAL! Since our marriage, my wife and I have been desperately trying to have a child (I believe this was the reason why we ignored each other). We were unsuccessful for three years, until October, 2003. Our daughter, Nadia had the most memorable time with me as we spent the entire day by the beach, sitting and playing in the sand (I had'nt done that since I was a child myself) as the rough waves kept hitting us, sometimes bowling us over! (Hurricane Rita was close by) Until this day, my daughter still talks incessantly about Virginis Beach. I KNOW this will be her first and earlist memory; playing in sand with her daddy at VIRGINIA BEACH! Because of this, it brings tears to my eyes! Luckily, my wife has our entire trip taped.
As for me, being at the beach, VIRGINIA BEACH is a kind of healing. You see, as a child, I rarely ever went to the beach with my father and the one ocassion that I remembered was a traumatic one for me. I was only four years old. This year, my Nadia will be three. My wife, daughter and I cannot wait to be back again this summer. This is a now a tradition for us!
Thanks VIRGINIA BEACH for the continuing and wonderful experience.
