Cops in V.B. under Federal investigation

{This was interesting. I can see how some of their skills might be in question. Two officers from the second-precinct told me a few hours, once, and they're addition skills were off by two days.}

U.S. Department of Justice Investigates Virginia Beach P.D.

The Department of Justice believes the use of math test scores to screen entry level police officers in Virginia Beach resulted in discrimination.

The DOJ has determined that between 2002 and mid-2005, approximately 85 percent of white applicants passed the math test; approximately 66 percent of Hispanic applicants passed it; and approximately 59 percent of the African American applicants passed. The DOJ thinks that the use of these test scores has resulted in discrimination against African Americans and Hispanics

The City of Virginia Beach does not agree with the results of the investigation. They are working with the DOJ to examine the math test and how it affects the composition of our police force.
