Since the thread is teetering on being hijacked by poker talk, I'll bring it back into focus....
Since the BBS, I... (in no particular order) -Dropped out of one college (CNU), graduation from another (TCC), and went back to yet a third (ODU) where I am currently double majoring in Business Adminstration and Information Technology. -Got engaged twice, married once. -Worked at Gateway for a spell, then Cox Communications. I currently manage two teams, one network monitoring and one tech support. -Bought a house in Hampton where I currently live with my wife, step-daughter and two month old son. -I play softball (in true OMC fashion) in the VB rec league, altho our team broke up recently and I haven't found another yet. -I play poker online on pokerstars, but low stakes ($2-4 mostly) |

I guess it's my turn..
If I remember correctly, the BBS broke up about the time I got married. So, right after that I went on a Med cruise and the Navy sent me to Maine when I got back. I worked at NAS Brunswick for the next few years and really really got tired of the Navy. So, I started taking classes. It was easy since I was getting GI Bill and because my wife worked there, so classes were free Anyways, I finish my BS in Computer Information Systems and got out of the Navy.I then started as a Network Admin for a telemarketing company in Portland. Then they purchased a Tech company, and I became a Systems Design and Network Engineer for them. After a couple of years of driving around in the snow and seeing how much money I could be making, I decided to get my masters. Well, of course I wanted to go to the University of Florida . So, I called in a few favors with some old friends and got a great job at UF. Network Admin for the College of Pharmacy, where I am now. Once in Florida, the marriage didn't do so well. We had a daughter and a divorce at about the same time. They now live back in Maine. About the same time my Dad was diagnosed with stage 4 Colon Cancer. The last 2 and 1/2 years have been interesting. But, 2 years of Chemo and 3 major surgeries and Dad is Cancer free. |

Hey Czar,
I don't know if you met Michelle, my wife [you may have met her once/twice]. She had Stage 3 colon cancer at 27. It just made it's way into the lymph system [they removed 31, it was in two]. Thank goodness colon cancer is the most treatable! I'm glad your Dad is doing well. So far, Michelle is cancer free and it's been three years. Her CEA levels are really, really low [good thing of course]. That was a huge fight. Having my baby girl Sarah spend 102 days in the hospital wasn't fun either. But all is well at the Jones Casa. Since you understand CEA's.. Dad's started at 1700. Yes that's Seventeen hundred. Last test he was at 4.7. He has another one in a few days.
Dad had a 9cm mass in the colon. 2 x 5cm in the liver and a 7cm in the liver. So, he had 13" of his colon removed and about 70% of his liver removed during the surgeries. It was fun ![]() |

What have I been up to.. Let's see...
After the BBS essentially got sold to VisiNet, I went to work there as a network admin. I eventually moved into Systems Administration when people left and the junk needed to get done... I realized that I wasn't going to find a girl in VA, so I decided to leave the area. I moved to Detroit and stayed with Nick (Stilgar) for about 4 months. I had a job there with EDS and it sucked royaly, so I never really settled there. Instead, I moved down to RTP, NC where I got a rockin job with Cisco Systems(I wonder if it's still so awesome). I stayed there for about three years and decided I wanted to try out city life. I had friends from VisiNet that were working at a fairly small startup called Athenahealth.com... They were asking me to come and work with them, so I went up and lived right in the North End of Boston... That's where I met the girl who I would eventually marry. I decided I wanted to try out working for myself or at least "bossless" again. Came back to southeastern VA to work with my brother on this site, virginiabeach.com... After about a year, Big Joe had the fabulous idea of buying the Wok and Roll from Richard Pao, who used to own the Oriental Star... (Ask me about how many times I told Big Joe that I hated him for the phrase "Let's buy this place!") I decided to give it a shot with Big Joe, and we ran the place for a year... It sucked... I lost some serious money on the whole thing, but hey, I figure it was my version of "college"... After I got the wok sold, I got a call from someone who I had met when I worked in Boston. He runs an Oracle remote DBA consulting service out of Ottawa, ON Canada... He wanted me to come and help him with his operation. And here I am... Becoming a DBA one day at a time. Figured I would check out what it's like to live in Canada. Shortly after I moved here, I asked my girlfriend Carrie to marry me, and we're planning to "get it done" in March of 2007... |

Not yet. The first project, called "The Third Wheel" will be about 15 minutes or so long when we complete it. We are almost done with the first "rough cut". Next we have to foley it (add in all the sounds you hear) and possibly ADR it (re-record the actors' dialog and add it back in). We are also getting a composer to score it. We just made a contact from LA and are working out pricing with him now. Hopefully we will have it done in January in time for some film festivals. I will definitely keep you posted. So far everything has come out better than planned, except for some minor audio issues that we need to address. Probably not an Oscar contender, but a worthy first effort and learning project.
