Poker

So poker has become immensely popular in recent years, so much so that for a time, I couldn't turn on the TV and not find poker on. There was WSOP, WPT, Celebs playing poker, poker this, poker that; there was so much poker on that I felt nautious.

Since then, poker has died down some, altho it certainly bigger than it was then when we were playing "Twin Tower" poker at Frodo's house.

Anyone here play? Online or otherwise?

I play at Bodog.com and I also play in the Denver Poker Tour, which is a local tournament series.

We also have a monthy home game that has been going for 10 years.

Seven card no peek follow the bitch! I play online a little, haven't played in a while, and still can't shuffle if we play for real, but a poker meet would be fun.

I was thinking about setting up the third floor for some games/movies. My third floor is completely vacant except for the theatre room.

If you guys are down for some poker, let me know. A couple of my friends down the street would like to play as well.

I'm not talking DK type money though.

Steve

Yeah, I actually quit my job to play poker professionally. Been making decent money at it for many years, but only professionally for the last year. It's pretty easy here in California, because there are card rooms all over the place. I have tried online a couple times, but it's not for me, so I stick to Brick&Mortar establishments.

And since everyone always asks the question "Have you been on TV?", the answer is yes and no. I've played in a couple televised World Series events over the past couple years, but didn't make any final tables. I have been on ESPN twice when I was standing behind Annie Duke when she won her first bracelet in 2004. Does that count?

I also played Live@TheBike which is a web-cast cash game that takes place each nite at the Bicycle Casino (www.liveatthebike.com). It used to be free to watch, but now is a payed subscription.

Yeah, it's a long way from Two Towers poker in the old days, but man I still miss that game.

I was out your way in September, but my schedule was such a whirlwind that I didn't have a chance to look you up. If I stay at my current job, then I'll be back out there in January (50/50 chances). You'll have to take me to Teddy KGB's or whereever you play.

Just let me know, there are lots of good places to play, and none of them like in Rounders (which actually was a good depiction of underground clubs in NYC). But since it's legal here, the establishments are nice.

Depends what kind of living you want to make, and of course, your ability to actually make money playing. This year I've averaged about 22.65 hours a week. There was a run in the Spring where I wasn't playing much at all, because the game was big and very good to me. Lately I've been shooting for about 30. As long as I'm still having fun, I'll play all the hours I can.
