Welcome to reality. My folks could afford it, but didn't get me a car and didn't pay for college either. I was on my own when I turned 18 because they wanted to start a business and I was in the way. It was hard, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Your parents are responsible for providing the necessities of life, giving you a roof over your head, feeding you and providing an environment conducive to learning and growing into a well balanced adult.
Automobiles and college educations are not necessities - no matter what the TV ads or other kids say. Get a job. Take night classes. Eat Top Ramen. Buy the cheapest toilet paper. Scrimp, and save. Build your own empire. One that nobody but YOU can lay claim to. As an old song says: Momma may have and Papa may have, but God bless the child that's got their own... (and maybe one day, you'll know who is buried in Grant's Tomb ) |

Yes, they are. Maybe you can get them to meet you half way. You get a P/T job and save up for the car, and they might kick in some dough. You can also get student loans that don't need to be paid back for several years until you graduate. Check out the grants too. Those never have to be paid back.
