In an interview published Tuesday in The Daily Progress of Charlottesville, State rep Hargrove said slavery ended nearly 140 years ago with the Civil War and added that "our black citizens should get over it." The newspaper also quoted him as saying, "are we going to force the Jews to apologize for killing Christ?"

He said this in response to a proposal that would have the state apologize to African Americans for it's part in slavery. He's spot on. Get over it. It's over and done with.

p.s. my family did not participate in slavery. Half of them were still over in Europe. Why should I apologize for something that my people never participated in?

Same here. MY family didn't arrive until the turn of the century. Oh - and they did it LEGALLY and with NO government aid.

Maybe the Blacks over in Africa shold apologize for selling their brothers into slavery 150+ years ago.
