Angry $2200 for what?

So I take the snake in for a LOF and ti fix the e-brake (keeps slipping) and the drivers side window (was getting very slow then died).

Originally it was going to be $500.

So when I heard the revised estimate of $2200 I asked why. The guy said '...well you know...Viper...".

So I'm goign to get the repairs done, but and seriously considering well, you know, FUCK DODGE and selling the Viper. I mean I don't HAVE to have a Viper (now that I've had one) and I don't HAVE to have a third vehicle and pay for the insurance and upkeep.

So, I'm gonna stew on this for a few days, but I may be parting ways with my Viper owning friends...

I know. Just an f'n oil change is $130 bucks. THe BMW is as much, but you only change it every 15k miles. I need to get the snake brought in for service soon, and I'm dreading the bill.

What really puckers my butt is a couple of years ago, the driver window on the brown bomber went out. I had to replace the motor and controller on that. It was about $450.

Today I'm told that JUST the controller for the Viper is $600.

Now being a fan of the Viper for many years, I know that when they designed it, they used as many "off the shelf" parts as they could. So I'm quite certain there's nothing special about a Viper's window setup compared to any other vehicle's setup.

This is just plain bullshit.

I don't mind paying a premium, but bending me over and fucking me is unacceptable. Shouldn't they at least take me out to dinner and a movie first?

Yep, just by virtue of the fact that it is a Viper, parts and labor quadruple. I had the exhaust done a few months back, and they quoted me some outrageous price. I bought the parts myself and had them install them. Saved myself over a grand.

I wouldn't condone you for doing it Chrish, that was the reason I sold the Benz (although I still frequent the benz forums and not honda forums). Parts costs are ridiculous considering it uses the exact same amount of materials for some cheaper vehicle. Supply, demand, and stocking the part don't cause items to be astronomically expensive, but ripping does.

But if you consider to buy something unique, whether it's an Exige, CLK, Hummer, Lexus, it's obviously going to cost a lot.
