Obama is a joke
Wind turbines, solar panels, and plug-in Priuses for all?
What the hell is wrong with this black, Hillary supporting women abandoning man?
First off, solar panels are very expensive. They would require a serious, intellectual investment. The problem with current solar panels is that they absorb about 5% of the energy that's transmitted to them. A typical car covered with solar panels would generate only a fraction of the power needed to power just the A/C. Who's to say, for example, a year after the U.S. has completed it's solar project and all houses in America have solar roofs that new technology allows 95% of energy to be collected? That would shutter the entire project, make us look silly and require yet again investment.
Wind turbines: Ok, that's a start. People can deal with planes hitting them, birds being chopped to bits and eye-sores I suppose.
Plug-ins: If it performs, great. But this requires massive amounts of electricity that solar panels and wind turbines can't create to make it cost effective. There needs to be a tremendous amount of supply while we cut back. Nuclear energy would be fantastic. I don't want someone who's going to flip-flop on this idea either. Our European counterparts already have this and have no power issues. And suppose one of our power plants goes out like in NY, how are people supposed to get around? We're making ourselves too dependent on ourselves.
