P*ssed Off with..

unreliable people, I mean WTF is your problem?

A few months ago, January, I gave my mom $200 to help that wh*re allude bankruptcy. It's now May and was promised that $200 at the end of January.

Now just about 2 weeks ago, I cashed my first paycheck and again she needs money. I tell her flat out NO, thinking "what is this b*tch thinking; asking money from her own son's first paycheck." She said she needs $180 for school tests, so I say ok. She then proceeds to suggest she needs $300 for some odd reason. I tell her no, she does it anyway. Also my dad's check was arriving late, thus the money was needed. She said in 2 weeks I'd get paid back. It's now going on week 3.

So now we're at $500 borrowed

A week later I decide to take an offer my mom makes me. I go and work with her for 2 hours and make $20 before we step foot in the car. Does it happen? No.

I can't believe how downright ignorant people are...especially parents. It doesn't matter if Jesus himself asks you for money. Pay back when told to do so, it's just like credit... She hasn't even thought about paying me back even a portion of the $520, yet I've brought it up 3 times.

What do I do to get this back? I need a car as soon as possible (getting late to work relying on her) and need suggestions.

I go by the rule that if I lend family money, it's really a gift. I never expect it back. If your mom continues to ask, just tell her you don't have it. Keep it in a bank until you have enough for your car.

On the flip side, you are old enough to contribute to the household. When I got my first job, I was expected to pay for my own clothes, the phone bill and a few other things. You're adult enough now to help out.

My Brother lent me $2000 to fix my car, ten years ago, and I payed him back, approximately, seven years ago.

That's the plan I was looking for.

Wise words from Haul.

I agree - I rarely do it (because of being burned) but if I loan anyone money, I do it understanding (to myself) that I will NEVER ask for it back, will NEVER expect to get it back and consider it as Haul does - just something I'm choosing to give someone.

Yes - it's reasonable for you to contribute some sort of rent - some amount of cash to the household. Trust me it's a bargain compared to paying for rent, groceries, electricity etc...

Note to self.

If beachguy asks to borrow money, say no.

Lol, I'm not struggling through the world like I was. Wait, a second. I don't have the gas money to pick it up, but, do you mind seeing my sister, in L.A., I'll have her wire me $50, right?

2nd thought- I accept credit cards.

Uh. If my Mom asks for some money, I generally give it to her because she spent tons of money feeding me from age 0-17.

She bought me a few clothes along the way as well.
