Moron in the courtroom
Defendant John Gomes, fighting a murder charge and apparently not liking that so many of his lawyer's motions were being denied by the judge, suddenly reached over and began strangling the lawyer, until court officers pulled him off.
Um, I would say that's an open and shut case.

"The Virginia Nurses Association the first in the country to come out in favor of medical marijuana, has reconfirmed its support for therapeutic cannabis and called for immediate legislation to legalize its medicinal use. Representing some 80,000 Virginia nurses, the association declared last week that it "will continue" to seek the regularization of medical marijuana as a therapeutic substance."

We all know what will end up happening. The judge will delcare a mistrial claiming that the jury has been influenced by witnessing the defendant attempt to strangle his own attorney. Because of this they can not be impartial in the murder case against him. He'll get a new trial with a new jury and they will surpress any info about him attempting to strangle his previous attorney.
It's the damn white bronco all over again. Don't allow the jury to hear the most important evidence because that might cause them to make an informed decision.

It's no longer about guilt or innocence, right or wrong. It's about how many notches the DA can put on his gun stock, or how good of a job one of the attorneys can do to trash the reputation of the other guy.
Quite sad.
