I only buy American cars, so I guess the 98 Chevy (are you sure that isn't 117,000 ?)

Those that score highest on Consumer Reports are usually the Japanese cars (consistently).

People "think" Jap cars are better. They were definitely better in the late 70's and early 80's when American cars were absolute shit. Nowadays, they're all about the same. However, people still have that perception adn that's what skews the reports.

Keeping clean oil in it - taking care of it and a little luck can go a long way.

Few people do. If they do, they get a new vehicle because we're all "trained" to want a new one every few years. Then the next owner beats the crap out of it and complains what a piece of junk it is.

I take good care of them and have owned various makes and models of American and foreign over the years. By far, the Japanese cars went the distance.

THey measure distance in liometers, so it just seems farther.
