Oh sheeeeeet!

I almost got caught speeding again today! What is up with these f'n cops lately anyway? I think they've placed an RFID on my car and they know when I'm in the vacinity.

Anyway, I got lucky. The road I was on cuts through a reservoir area. It's basically an area that the Army Corps of Engineers designated as a flood zone, so no one can build on it. It's a 4-lane road with nothing but trees on either side, and cross-overs every 1/2 mile or so.

I was out there by myself (nearest car was about 1/4 mile back) doing about 70 (in a 40). Suddenly, I spotted a sheriff's car coming toward me from the other direction. So I immediately slow down to about 50. Everybody goes 50 on that road, so I figured I was safe.

I watch him as he passes on the other side, and I see him looking right at me. I don't see any brake lights, so I think I'm in the clear. But I keep watching in the rearview to see if he turns. Sure enough, as soon as he reaches the crossover area he turns around and starts to haul ass. I knew if I got caught again, that it would be it. That other ticket is still looming over me until I get it taken care of in a few weeks.

All I can say is, thank God for traffic! By the time he turned, several other cars were already in the way. I seized the opportunity and floored it up and over the reservoir boundary (it's a small hill that separates the flood zone from the rest of civilization) where he couldn't see me. Then I hauled ass through the next two lights and took a quick left onto the freeway. I saw him in the rearview caught at light when I rounded the corner to the freeway. Yeah, catch me now! Sucks to be you.

I can imagine you jamming down the road at 140 or so screaming:

"You'll never get my last chocolate donut copper!"

Icing on the corners of your mouth. Crumbs left in the bottom of the box. Thinking about where the nearest convenience store is ...
