Permanent site for Joe

Hey guys,

I spent a bit of time putting together a better site for Joe versus the forum category.

www.virginiabeach.com/bigjoe

It should be easy for everyone to remember if you want to spread the word. I have it setup to display the pictures we upload in the Big Joe Category at the top of the page randomly. You'll still be able to post/edit/reply.

It's almost been a week and the sadness hasn't eased up. Joe was the centerpiece to so many friendships from the old days. Many of us have gotten caught up in our lives and have lost touch with friends of old. It's truly amazing to see everyone gather back together on behalf of the big man. I know we all really miss him and what he brought to all of us.

I will always remember 'the purple bastard' and that big grin. Nothing could wipe off that smile -- well, maybe my Mom on a bad day at the Wok-N-Roll [grin].

Here are some of the memories that are creeping into my head as I write this:

The pinto had simulated wood grain paneling. Back then Joe worked outside as a brick mason's assistant. His clothes wreaked of dust and dirt.
Joe bought and drove my Dad's doodoo brown truck.
Joe blew the engine in his blue Honda, my brother's old car.
Joe left his camaro [my old car] in front of PuttPutt for what seemed to be two months. No one ever towed it away.
Joe somehow went from Turok to Papa Bear to Jank Daddy -- and landed on Sharvona, a 60 Hunter on Wildhammer [World of Warcraft].
Joe has a very wild story involving a zip lock bag and $50.
Joe loved Asian women.
Joe worked at VisiNet forever as he wanted to get away from manual labor.
Joe successfully made his way into the technology sector.
Joe bought a sweet red Chevy [not from one of my relatives] -- he blew the engine in that one too.
Joe was on teamspeak nightly -- and played for the guild Virulence.
Joe loved rock and roll.
Joe loved WokNRoll.
Joe loved SCIFI.
Joe loved everyone.

I miss him. He was truly a brother from another mother.

Steve

Memories of Joe!

Some of these are repeats of what Steve said, but if you leave them out it's just not Joe...

Pinto with wood paneling, with a license plate that said LKRSFAN(or something like that)
The purple bath robe that he played poker in
He played basketball like Charles Barkley, big inside presence and rebounded like crazy
The Paradigm Basketball team, we were in the A league for the Newport News Mens Rec Leauge, some of the other teams had guys that played in Europe professionally, we had about 10 guys with our BBS Names on the back our jerseys
Him and Dan and that house in Hampton with the weird roommate
The 20+ person trip to Kings Dominion
All the times at the Oriental Start and then later just saying hey when I got food from Wok N Roll
Rock N Bowl, traveling around the peninsula and southside just for something to do on a Saturday Night.
Hangin out at Paradigm HQ playing Doom, playing MUD, playing Tele Arena.
Playing Ping Pong at my parents house, with the rest of the BBS crew
Going to Dennys at 2am, we had our own personal waitress

Truly there are too many to list, I wished I would've had a digital camera about 10 years ago, it would've been fun to look back. I'll settle for the memories in my head, they will be here forever.

Thanks Joe

Dave

I remember the last time I spoke to Joe. I was leaving Wok n' Roll and was in a rush to get back to St. Leo, my lunch was almost over. He was mentioning something to me about setting up a LAN in the restaraunt in a little while, I said, "Sounds great, let me know." Then I didnt hear from him, but he had been talking about doing something else the time before, so it didnt surprise me that he had left the restaraunt and pursued tech stuff.

It's the moments that live on, the short smatterings of situations or words, jokes, small slices of the times that stick with you. I won't say I was one of Joe's best friends, but I was glad to have known him.

I gotta say that I feel really funny, posting anything in here, seeing as how I haven't seen or heard from Papa in a few years... I missed him, but didn't know how to bridge the gap between us... He was one of my best friends growing up, and now I miss him even more, and Really can't do anything about it....
Papa was Always smiling, and was always there for ANYone who needed ANYthing! He was the Best!!
Even though I haven't seen him or been in touch, He was Always here in my heart, and will forever stay there.

I Love You Papa!! and I miss you!
