Ruth's Chris Steak House
When my father-in-law wanted to try Ruth’s Chris Steak House here in Virginia Beach a few weeks ago, I was quite apprehensive.
The last thing I wanted was another run-of-the-mill steak house meal. I was told the occasion required me to dress up a tad bit [not required mind you] so this intrigued me a bit. Upon arriving, I was pleasantly surprised by the escalator entrance. The restaurant was extremely elegant and tastefully furnished. The wait staff were incredibly diligent and attentative. Unlike other steak houses, Ruth’s Chris cooks their steaks at 1800 degrees, sealing in the flavor. The divine meal was served on a 500-degree plate (I was tempted to touch it but common sense helped me avoid that error). The seafood gumbo was pretty tasty for the area (not many restaurants carry it locally) and the onion rings will shock you when they arrive (order it, you’ll see what I mean). I had their steak and prime rib. The prime rib was the best I have ever eaten. It was served with aus jus and a horseradish sauce (absolutely mouth watering). If you want the best steak in town, you have to try Ruth’s Chris. Bring your credit card. The meals are not inexpensive, but the food will be so delicious, the price will be justified. That's cool, I've only been to PK Chang's (sp?) down there at Towne Center. In December, I went into that "village" they have there and was impressed. I like what they did. I've driven by it several times, since they built it, but it's like a new world when you're walking down Central Park Ave.
Again, I've moved away from Virginia several times and, every time I come back, there's a major difference in many places around the area.

I was very moved when I received this comment to the review:
I just entered the VirginiaBeach.com web site because I am thinking of possibly moving there. After reading this, the first article I chose, I know that I can feel right at home when it comes do dining and having a supurb meal. After all I will be moving from the Phoenix/Scottsdale, AZ area where we have two Ruth's Chris' to choose from. Sometimes I call ahead after being gone on a business trip and have Ruth's Chris fix a meal for me to stop and pick up to eat as soon as I get home when I am too tired or not in a festive mood. They do, and it is the best welcome home a person can have. However, it is the restaurant of choice for a special celebration or thank you for special event, or just to be pampered with the best in food and dining! Thanks for putting your article up for those of us who need your restaurant for a welcome fix. -Verona Thank you Verona. This really made my Monday! Steve

I would want to have tips for good restaurants in VB, as I will move there shortly. Haven only been to The Jewish Mother which is a place I like a lot. I wonder if there is a good restaurant that serve good/fresh seafood? I bet there are plenty...

Several years ago, Eva, I played open mic at the Jewish Mother, with my electric guitar. Several years ago, for a few years, several times a year.
A new owner bought the place and was looking to change the menu. A year, or two, later, they had the same menu. I haven't been there in a few years, but I'm pretty sure that they've changed it. I love the atmosphere at The Jewish Mother.
