Restaurant: The Cheesecake Factory

What started out as a family trip to PF Chang (we needed to use some gift certificates before they expired) ended up at the Cheesecake Factory (right across the street). The wait time for PF was about an hour-and-a-half at 4PM last Saturday (note to self: make reservations next time).

The wait at The Cheesecake Factory was only twenty minutes so we decided to turn in our beeper and take a short walk.

The first thing you notice when walking in is the grand appearance. It reminded me of my visit to the MGM Grand in Las Vegas many years ago. The cathedral ceilings, tiled marble floors and majestic pillars provided a fantastic decorative look.

True to it’s name, this restaurant has a very wide variety of cheesecake -- and an incredible selection of various cuisines. They featured American food, Thai food, Italian and much more.

For my appetizer, I started out with Vietnamese shrimp spring rolls. This was very, very delicious. It’s a series of veggies/shrimp rolled in rice paper and served cold. There were two dipping sauces and they were both equally divine. I could have eaten two of these servings and been perfectly satisfied with my visit.

For my entree, I decided to have their Cajun Shrimp/Chicken Jambalaya. Unfortunately, this wasn’t as good as the appetizer. While not bad, I found it lacking in spice and flavor. For the area, which lacks good Cajun food in my opinion, it’s probably the best you’ll find here. Unfortunately, it doesn’t compare with other Cajun dishes I’ve had throughout the country.

For dessert, I ordered the banana creme cheesecake but unfortunately, it was absent from the building. I settled for key lime cheesecake. It was very good and very sour (I could have done with a little less sour - be forewarned).

Be prepared for "deer-in-lights" syndrome when ordering from their sumptuous dessert menu. I would have liked to have seen a sample option.

Overall, I very much enjoyed this dining experience and I will return. Next time I’ll order something else for my entree.

I have read the review and I am intrigued by the different choices of entrees and variety of cuisines offered at your restaurant. I absolutely love to go out for a nice selection of deserts after eating a well cooked family meal around the dinner table. Since I will be visiting the Virginia Beach area on a much anticipated family vacation this month I am interested in visiting your restaurant since I have never had the priviledge of doing so during any of my previous visits. My family and I will be visiting the area during the Mother's Day weekend and I am wondering if you offer any types of discounts or could find a coupon for free desert that would ensure my visit to your restaurant? If so, please contact me at the email address above if you are willing to accomodate my request. Thank you
