There are two beaches in Virginia Beach -- the "strip", which is most known and frequented by tourists and Southern Virginia Beach, aka Sandbridge. Southern Virginia Beach is such a secret, even many locals don't know it exists.

These beaches couldn't be more different. If you're looking for shopping, active night life, high-rise hotels and the joy of crowds, the "strip" is for you! If you're looking for a super relaxing vacation without the traffic/hustle/bustle, then Southern Virginia Beach would be your ideal choice. It's commonly called "The Outer Banks of Virginia Beach" and is approximately 20 minutes from the strip.
