Family Friendly Halloween Events

Bloody brides, creepy clowns, and spooky skeletons are all Halloween favorites for some people. Luckily, there are so many things to do in Virginia Beach where everyone can have a great Halloween! Not everyone like all things scary, so we’ve made a list for all the Family Friendly Halloween events in VA Beach.

1. Harvest Fair at the Virginia Beach Farmers Market

Saturday, October 14th

10 am - 1pm

First up is the Harvest Fair, which is happening on Saturday, October 14. This Virginia Beach activity will be held at the Farmers Market (click here to find the address). At the 2017 Harvest Fair, there will be live music, farm animals to pet, delicious food trucks, a craft show, carnival rides, and more. The Harvest Fair begins at 10 am and end at 1 pm. This fun event is open to the public and FREE!

2. Children's Halloween Party

Sunday, October 15th

10 am - 12 pm & 1 pm - 3 pm

Next is the Children’s Halloween Party. This Virginia Beach event is hosted by Hunt Club Farm. This is a favorite among many families because of all the things to do at one party. There is a petting farm, pumpkin decorating, cupcake decorating, a bounce house, and more. You will even get to bring home a small pie pumpkin to either carve or to roast. Dress up in costumes for this event, or you’ll be the odd one out! This event is ticketed, and you will need to have a pre-paid reservation because this party is so popular. The ticket prices are $15 per child and $9 per adult. This event sells out every year, so it's recommended to pre-order tickets if you're set on coming to this fun time.

3. ZooBoo 2017

Sunday, October 21st

10 am - 6 pm

ZooBoo is filled with excitement and fun fall activities! This event is hosted by the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk. While not in Virginia Beach, Norfolk is just a short drive away from the beach (approximately 20 minutes). We highly recommend taking the small drive here because this day will be loaded with fun things to do like crafts, bounce houses, costume contests, the "ZooBoo Choo Choo", safe trick or treating, and more! You may even see some animals that are dressed for the fesitvites. This is a ticketed event, but is very affordable. Click here to see ticket prices. ZooBoo will take place rain or shine.

4. Anthem Wicked 10k and Old Point National Bank Monster Mile

Saturday, October 28th

10:30 am - start time of the Monster Mile

Anthem Wicked 10K isn’t for children, but the Old Point National Bank Monster Mile is! This event, located at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, will be the most fun mile your child will ever run. “Run for your lives!” is the theme of the mile. The beautiful scenery of the oceanfront is just enough reason to participate in this race. It will be even more fun because everyone will be able to run in costume.

5. Ghoula Palooza

Saturday, October 28th

10 am - 1 pm

Also on October 28th will be Ghoula Palooza at Great Neck Park. This is a fantastic opportunity to do some safe trick or treating. Children are invited to come in full costume to this event and trick or treat throughout the park. Participate in crafts, fun family fitness activities, inflatables, and more! This event is free and open to the public. Great Neck Park will be running this activity from 10 am - 1 pm.

6. Halloween Town & Treat

Saturday, October 28th

12 pm - 4 pm

Virginia Beach Town Center will host a great family friendly party called Halloween Town & Treat. On Saturday, October 28th, you are invited to dress up and enjoy this free event.  This year's theme is superheroes! There will be balloon animals, face painting, pumpkin decorating, and of course CANDY! The Halloween Town & Treat will begin at noon and last until 4:00 PM at the Fountain Plaza.

7. Halloween Spooktacular Musical

Sunday, October 29th

3 pm - 5 pm

The Virginia Symphony Orchestra presents their annual Halloween Spooktacular Musical perfect for all members of the family! You’re going to want to bring everyone for this concert. On Sunday, October 29th, show up in full costume and listen to the spookiest tunes! This concert is said to be more treat than trick, so it’ll be loads of fun. Tickets to this concert at the Sandler Center for Performing Arts start at just $18. The music begins at 3:00 PM and lasts two hours long.
