Are you looking for fun holiday parties, ballets, concerts, or family-friendly events? We know of all the events to keep you feeling the holiday cheer this Christmas season! We have all the Virginia Beach events, as well as other awesome events in neighboring cities that we don't think anyone should miss out on!
First up on the Holiday Events list in Virginia Beach is the McDonald's Holiday Lights at the Beach. This is a super HUGE event that is sure to please everyone. To enjoy this event, you will stroll along the Virginia Beach Boardwalk in you car (yep, you'll drive your car on the Boardwalk!) for streets on streets of nautical themed light displays. There will be a large tree beautifully lit. This tree is so big, it even gives the King Neptune Statue's size a run for its money!
The hours of operation for the Holiday Lights at the Beach are these:
McDonald’s Holiday Lights at the Beach opens in the evening, beginning at 5:30 PM.
The hours of the light display are from 5:30 PM - 10:00 PM Sunday through Thursday.
The hours for Friday and Saturday are 5:30 PM - 11:00 PM.
If you're in the mood for some unique holiday shopping, you'll want to check out the Santa's Stocking Old Fashioned Craft Bazaar. On November 19th and 20th, handmade crafts from local vendors take over the Williams Farm Recreation Center in VA Beach. There will be a child care service here that allows the kids to participate in some fun arts and crafts while you get your shopping done. This is a great place to shop local and see what kind of gifts to give this year. Santa Claus will also make an appearance for this event!
Also on November 19th is a favorite Christmas event at the Virginia Beach Town Center, Santa Claus is Coming to Town (Center)! Eat, drink, and celebrate this time of year. Bring everyone for this event because it is going to be a family friendly afternoon. Not only will Santa be there, but you'll be able to see the large Christmas tree have its first lighting of the season. This event begins at noon and ends at 5:00 PM. If your family wants even more fun with the Claus' after this event at the Virginia Beach Town Center, you can head over to Pembroke Mall to have a special storytime with Mr. and Mrs. Claus.
November 19th is just going to be a busy day if you're up to taking advantage of all things Christmas! Searching for Santa! A Holiday Musical Show in the Plaza is also located in the Virginia Beach Town Center. It starts an hour after the Santa Claus is Coming to Town Center event is over. For this event, there will be live entertainment including singing and dancing. In case of rain, the rain date is November 20th. After the Musical Show, the Christmas tree will be lit and holiday fireworks will go up!
There will be even more fun on the Virginia Beach Boardwalk than only the McDonald's Holiday Lights at the Beach. Don't forget to check out the Holiday Parade at the Beach! This parade will feature tons of dancing and of course floats. No parade is complete without floats! This parade at the Oceanfront will begin at 15th Street and end at 25th Street. Set up some seats and bring the blankets! There's plenty of room to set up at this fun holiday event. What's even better is that this parade is FREE and open to the public.
Some families make it a tradition to see The Nutcracker ballet. If you’re one of those people, or if you’re not one of those people but just want to see this beautiful story… Here’s your chance! The Sandler Center of the Performing Arts is the place to be on December 16-18 for many chances to see The Nutcracker. Tickets start at just $20.
Here are the showtimes for this Christmas Classic:
Friday's (December 16) only show is at 7:30 PM
Saturday's (December 17) two shows are at 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM
Sunday's (December 18) only show is at 2:00 PM
Visit Christmas Town at Busch Gardens for a huge sparkling spectacle. There will be over 8 million lights to be in awe over, so you won't want to miss this! This beautiful Christmas Town at Busch Gardens is located in Williamsburg, Virginia. This requires a bit of driving (about an hour and forty-five minutes), but we completely recommend it as it is a great experience everyone should have at least once!
