  • Virginia Beach BoardwalkFirst and foremost is the Virginia Beach Boardwalk. The very first thought of Virginia Beach IS the boardwalk. There are streets and streets of sand, waves, and sun. Walking down the boardwalk is an activity all in itself because there is always something to see. While walking the boardwalk, depending on the weekend you will pass art shows, concerts, and festivals. Walking isn’t the only option on the boardwalk! Bike rentals are available at various places along the boardwalk. There is a small road right next to the boardwalk that is reserved specifically for bikes and skateboards. This is a fun experience, and it comes in handy when you want to get somewhere fast! The VA Beach Boardwalk is super fun and family-friendly. There is always something to enjoy here!

  • King Neptune StatueWhile making your way along the VA Beach Boardwalk, you will inevitably bump into King Neptune! The King Neptune Statue is certainly one of VA Beach’s favorite sights. This 34-foot statue will leave everyone in awe. This mighty King has tons of friends around him, too! See two larger than life sized dolphins hanging out behind his back. Then, notice a HUGE octopus near the bottom of the statue. Tons of starfish and other fish are scattered around him, making this a very detailed spectacle.   • Norwegian Lady StatueAnother one of VB’s favorite statues is the Norwegian Lady Statue. She stands tall at the Oceanfront, like King Neptune. The Norwegian Lady Statue is a memorial of the Dictator, the ship that wrecked in 1891. The Norwegian Lady Statue stands as a guardian for the lives lost during the tragic shipwreck. This memorial statue is located on 25th Street & The Oceanfront. She still receives flowers every year in memory of the loss of the Norwegian ship and its passengers.

  • Officer MemorialVirginia Beach sure does love its statues. There is another collection located on the Boardwalk for the memorial of Law Enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. This collection of statues is located on 35th Street & The Oceanfront. Here you will see a number of plaques of officers that tell the life story of the fallen officers. This is truly a moving series of statues!

  • The Old Coast Guard StationThe Old Coast Guard Station is a fun stop to make while at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront! The Old Coast Guard Station is located at 24th Street & The Oceanfront. There are so many exhibits to see and learn about here. These exhibits are both inside and outside the Old Coast Guard Station. Come here if you are interested in a unique slice of history!

  • Sandbridge Little Island PierSandbridge’s Little Island Pier is one of the most favorite piers in Coastal Virginia. Here, you can take the family fishing right from the pier. This is a fun plan for a day to take a break from the sand, and catch something from the water. Show off your skills and reel in some Croaker, Red or Black Drum, Flounder, Trout, and maybe even a Blacktip Reef Shark! Wow. Reeling in a shark on vacation will forever be a great story to tell.   • Mount Trashmore ParkA short drive away from the VB Oceanfront is the Mount Trashmore Park. The Mount Trashmore Park is a great place to enjoy some nature trails, skate parks, playgrounds, and gardens full of flowers. Many people choose to fly their kites there. It’s a good place for that because it is still close enough to the oceanfront to get the ocean breeze in the kite! There is so much fun for the children to have at the Mount Trashmore Park.   • Cape Henry LighthouseThe Cape Henry Lighthouse will excite any nautical lover, as it is one of the oldest surviving lighthouses in the US! This lighthouse was built to guide maritime commerce into the Chesapeake Bay. You can climb the stairs inside the lighthouse all the way to the tip-top to enjoy fantastic views of the Chesapeake Bay. The Cape Henry Lighthouse is located on the base of Fort Story. Be prepared for a possible vehicle search, and have valid ID on hand!

  • Chesapeake Bay Bridge TunnelWhen in Virginia Beach, you must take a drive through The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel! This tunnel is more than what it seems. There is a pier where you can relax and enjoy the view. You can even fish or crab right from the pier! It’s a great place to pull up some blue crabs, flounder, and croaker. If you don’t want to fish for your dinner, there is a restaurant for some yummy food while enjoying the scenery of small boats sail along the water. Be aware that there is a toll, but this trip is well worth the small payment!
