Now that winter is blowing its chilling, frosty breath upon us, it's time to bundle up, grab your gloves and sled-on-down to the Virginia Beach Winter Wildlife Festival.

There are many exciting programs available for kids and adults this weekend. For the purposes of this article, we will concentrate on the activities that are free to the public. A complete list of all activities can be downloaded here:

Festival Kickoff
7PM - 8:30PM - Meo Central Library
Noah Strycker, author and Associate Editor of Birding Magazine, starts this weekend's festivities with a discussion about his book, Bird World. Bird World features the interesting and similar traits humans and birds share.

Beginning Birding
9:30AM-11AM - Virginia Aquarium Marsh Pavilion
Come out and learn the basics of bird watching. You'll have the chance to see up to 55 different types of birds that call Virginia Beach home.

Intro to Nature Photography
10AM-11AM - Princess Anne Recreational Center
Learn how to use your digital camera properly! Take pictures of birds, our beautiful scenic areas and more with award winning photographer, G. Michael Brown.

G. Michael Brown will give a lecture on how to choose the proper lens and filters for your natural photography.
